InMode Microneedling utilizes radiofrequency to improve the quality, firmness, and overall glow of your skin due to its ability to stimulate collagen production in the deepest layers of your skin.
It helps with wrinkles, sagging skin, and scars. Some microneedling approaches use PRP therapy in order to create a treatment that is even more effective.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapies are growing increasingly popular across all areas of health and wellness. Part of the appeal of these therapies is that they utilize the patient’s own blood cells to help accelerate healing in a specific area of the body. The site being healed is targeted through the injection location.
By using your own blood, PRP therapies are safe to use and can even be used alongside other procedures with no fear of associated complications.
Platelet-rich plasma consists of two elements, plasma, which is the liquid portion of your blood, and platelets, a blood cell that plays an essential role in healing. While platelets are most commonly known for their clotting abilities, they also contain growth factors that can trigger cell reproduction and tissue regeneration, which leads to healing in the treated area.
Platelet-rich plasma is simply blood that contains a higher concentration of platelets than normal.
This is collected by extracting a sample of blood from the patient and then spinning it in a centrifuge, which is a machine that spins the blood at high speed to extract the platelets.
PRP also helps to stimulate collagen production, and when utilized with microneedling, it can reach a greater area of skin and at the desired depth.
Microneedling is also gentle enough to be used on the delicate skin around the eyes.
Before the treatment begins, a topical numbing cream is applied to make you more comfortable throughout the treatment. The microneedling device is then applied to the skin. The device has a range of needles that it can use depending on the target area being treated. These needles can range from 1mm to 4mm, with the smallest needles being used for more delicate skin. Using these needles ensures that treatment reaches deep into the layers of your skin, allowing your skin to heal from the inside out while also ensuring that delicate areas can be treated.
Once the microneedling device is placed, radiofrequency is then given off, which feels like radiating heat. This action is what stimulates the growth of collagen, and it often feels like gentle pricking of the skin.
While microneedling does use needles, the needles are so tiny that there is minimal feeling with them; it’s not like a needle used to give an injection.
Results are typically first observed 1-3 weeks following the first treatment, but the skin will continue to improve over the next couple of months.
Increases Elastin Production
Microneedling promotes elastin production, which plays an essential role in wrinkles and sagging skin. As the name suggests, elastin plays a role in how elastic the skin is. In our youth, your skin contains a lot of elastin which allows it to return to its resting state after smiling or frowning. However, as we get older, the amount of elastin in our skin decreases, which means that the skin is more likely to hold those positions that we put it in. This is how you end up with laugh lines from laughing or frown lines between the eyebrows. The skin no longer returns to its original state and holds the shape we force it into during different facial movements.Elastin also plays a role in sagging skin. As we get older and the amount of elastin in our skin decreases, our skin can no longer handle gravity as well as it used to, leading to sagging skin.
Elastin and collagen together play essential roles in how the skin looks, and their depletion with age is the primary cause of skin-related signs of aging.
Reduces Scars
Scars occur because of the way that the skin heals. Collagen rushes to the wound area and builds up, providing a scar that looks different than the surrounding skin. Microneedling helps to reduce the appearance of scars by evening out the skin tone and breaking down the different skin compositions.
